Of Monsters and Men
No, this is not Of Mice & Men. Probably one of the farthest things from it, considering Of Mice & Men is a metalcore band, and Of Monsters and Men is an indie/folk band.
Of Monsters and Men started about 5 years ago in 2007, and ever since, they have been making waves. They were originally from Iceland. In 2010, their song “Little Talks” was preformed at the Iceland Airwaves music festival and the Seattle radio station KEXP recorded it live. In 2011, it was played on a couple different radio stations around the US, and received such great reception that record labels started having bidding wars. Many people have called them the next Arcade Fire, or the Icelandic Mumford and Sons.Their single “Little Talks” was released onto iTunes shortly after. Their first album, “My Head is an Animal”, was released in early September 2011 in Iceland. It will be released in the US later this year.
The light, airy voice of Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir, mixed with the deep voice of Ragnar Þórhallsson, makes a perfect mix. They sing harmony’s, and back and forth like they have been doing it their whole life. So, if you are really into more alternative music, choosing Arctic Monkeys over Britney Spears, I would recommend you open YouTube, search “Little Talks” and put it on replay.
