Many Jefferson Middle School students frequently go to their locker. Some students take every opportunity they have to go into their private fortress to reshuffle, rearrange, substitute, switch, shift, recalibrate, reconstitute, and realign their paraphernalia.
I have watched, noticed, and noted this otherwise common occurrence, and I have examined the results of months of survey and observation and have come to the conclusion that one student stands out above all others in the extensive, frequent, and habitual use of their locker. This student can open their combination lock with a deft twirl of the knob, and in a brief interlude of instantaneous reorganization, this same student can shift and shuffle apparel, books, and various accoutrement ensembles without missing a single second of instruction.
I see this student every day, over and over again, as her locker is near my room. I have looked down the halls and never have observed any other student who even comes close to using their locker as efficiently, deftly, and as often as this student. This student seems to have a singular purpose during each passing period and that is to make a pit stop at her locker.
Congratulations go to Ann E. for being chosen as Jefferson Middle School’s first Locker Queen. Ann’s masterful use of her locker has now made the area around her locker a special place in our hallway. Other students gather around just to be there. It’s like a popular local hangout, and students are all gathered around milling and enjoying her brief and effortless performance.
I am sure this is only the first of many awards and recognitions that will eventually go to this singularly special girl.
